Department of Medical Biology
Molecular Biology Laboratory is specialized in genetics diagnostics
-The Medical Diagnostics Laboratory provides biochemical, immunochemical, hematological, coagulological, analytical, pharmacological, and serological testing and blood stock managements services for the Institute of Cardiology,
-The Molecular Biology Laboratory participates in research projects on genetic basis of familial cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias, sudden cardiac arrests, sudden cardiac death’s and thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection cases. The next generation sequencing and capillary Sanger's methods are used. The sequencing competences have been confirmed in EQAS (External Quality Assurance Services) proficiency studies,
-The Mass Spectrometry Laboratory performs quantitative analyses of immunosuppressants, free methoxycatecholamines, and adrenal steroid hormones. The lab is equipped with QTRAP 6500 + (SCIEX),
-The Laboratory of Immunology conducts research related to pathophysiology of heart transplant rejection, acute myocarditis, hypertension and fibromuscular dysplasia, aortic aneurysms and heart failure. Operating facilities include Cell and Tissue Culture Rooms, Cytometry Room with MoFlo Astrios sorter and Molecular Biology Room dedicated for RNA studies. Laboratory has built up an exceptional resource base with collection of human heart and vessel tissues, primary cultures of human endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells and fibroblasts.
